Open-weight models (Llama, Qwen, Mistral, DeepSeek and others) publish their weights so you can download and run them yourself. Closed models (GPT, Claude, Gemini) are reachable only through an API. 'Open weights' is not the same as open source: the training data and code are usually not released.
